Well i am new to the forum, but not new to this area. I have been biking down here at southern for almost 7 years now you might know me as the guy bringing up the rear on the bike way to big for these trails. Well i am starting to train for DH season for Collegiate racing for Southern and for fun out in CO. If anybody knows who i can talk to about building a DH trail to practice on i would much appreciate it. Right now i am just going to 51 side of Cedar just because its easily accessible for doing a lot of runs but i don't want to disturb horses, or be interrupted for that matter. So any help would be wonderful. The area i am proposing is the open area along the power lines at the 51 side of cedar entrance. Thank you.

Joe

The Kink

I know we have mentioned recently that the Kink trail is in sweet right now. There are a few wet spots and some of the little ditch crossings have some muck in them also. Pat, Trish and I rode tonight and saw something ODD. About a mile into the trail there were several papers scattered around on the ground. Most of them folded in half, but some were unfolded. We didn't think much about it, but on our way back through, I mentioned to Pat (since we are charter members of the Sierra Club and advocate leaving not so much as a footprint on the trails) that we should stop and do a little cleanup since someone decided to empty their backpack on the trail. So we roll up to the place and hop off our bikes to gather up the trash. While gathering some of the papers up, I noticed that whomever left the papers was either interested in what was going to happen to thier social security in the future or didn't give a poo about it, and threw the papers about. There was about 25 pages or so of social security information and some "how to get rich quick" stuff that had been printed off of the internets laying around. After picking up a few of the papers that were folded, I noticed that one of them that had been unfolded had been used to whipe something . Apparently someone decided to take a poo right in the trail. At that point, Pat and I decided that as much as we hate litter on the trails, we just weren't picking up printer paper that had been used to whipe someone's stinker on the trail. We hate to dissapoint the rest of the Sierra club, but have to draw the line somewhere....
We hopped back on our bikes and headed back towards the trailhead. As you can probably guess, there were many comments and jokes made on the ride back to the truck. I didn't take my bike to the carwash, but was tempted to stop by there to avoid any contact with the "poo" when I wash the bike later. I guess the person who needed to poo so bad, didn't want to use any of the millions of leaves that were laying around for cleanup. I have to assume that they didn't know the difference between poisonous and non poisonus plants and were afraid of whiping with some poison ivy. I would imagine that 20lb printer paper would leave someone a little tender for the ride or walk back to the trailhead....
