Ed and I talked today and thought we would meet Sat @ 10am @ a TH east of 145 a little north of Eddyville and ride an area we call Macanally.  I will post the directions tomorrow.

Saturday 12-12-09 ride.  From the south (Paducah) go north on 145 past Eddyville to Water Tower Road on the left.  Turn RIGHT -- east (don't remember the name but I think it changes on the east side of 145) and keep going straight onto the graveled part.  From the north (H'bg) go south to Water Tower Road and turn LEFT.  The trailhead is maybe a mile or so from 145 and on the left.  There is a concrete slab there.  I will try to be there early.

Hope you can make it Brant & Guder.  Haven't had the pleasure of meeting Guder yet and look forward to it.  How about you, Moe?  Call me Brant if you need better directions.

From what I remember, there are many small creek crossings at the Macanally. None are difficult, but it is definetely a goretex sock day.

There should be more water in the creeks than we've had for a while but we can usually tiptoe across somewhere without getting wet!

I'm not going to make the trail building at Harmonie, so I just might be there.

Depends on how tonight goes, a friend from out of town wanted us to hit St Louis tonight.

A 10am start gives us quite a bit of time, though.

Can't make this ride...gotta work at the shop but hopefully I'll get a little work done on Cove before then.  Never heard of this trail, let us know how it goes.  Always looking for a new riding spot.

I am going to be out of town this weekend.  I'm going down to Dallas to visit a buddy.  Sounds like fun though!  I will hopefully catch the next one.

great ride.  there were a couple of loooong muddy sections.  the rest of the ride was awesome!

i think we left the trailhead at 11am and finished at 4pm...approximately.  20.5 miles.

thanks for the fresh pastries mark.

good thing i brought extra gloves...falling in that creek was not fun.

My right foot got cold and then went numb. I have a circulation problem with that foot. Anyway about 2 hours into the ride Moon and I headed back. It took us about an hour to get back. When we got back to the trail head, the Forest Service was waiting for us. A lady, she was very nice and very pleasant, asked me where we had been riding. All I could do was point over my shoulder and say "Down there in that canyon", because I didn't know where I had exactly been. She then told me that Lusk Creek Wilderness Area was  somewhere down in that area and that wheeled vehichles were not allowed in the wilderness area. I did not see any signs indicating that we were breaking any rules. Like I said, she was very polite, and gave us a verbal warning that wheeled vehichles were not allowed in Lusk Creek Wilderness Area.

sorry about your foot ed...hope you get that figured out.

as for the lusk creek wilderness area; mark and joe discussed this while we were at one of our crossroads.  we had to go through private property which greg got permission to ride so that we would go around the wilderness area.

if greg reads this, maybe he can verify; or mark.
